This Post was first written for and published by She Leads Africa Food! There’s just something about it that fosters camaraderie, you know. Introduce food to any gathering or meeting and it automatically brings on a more relaxed atmosphere. We all know that food is essential, but are family meal times all-important as we make it out to be? Family meal time is a time when member of the family sit together to share a […]
Now that you are preparing for Nursery School for your child, it’s not just about preparing the kids academically that’s important … there are a whole lot more things your child should be learning at this crucial time, to gain some level of independence.
The awesome task of being a Mom can leave us drained for most of the time. In the first few weeks of your baby’s arrival, you may feel like your world has been turned upside down, everything seems to be happening all at once. Between trying to feed your baby, change diapers, giving the baby a bath, taking care of your husband… you may feel like you can’t take it for one more day.
Kids need boundaries and rules! Discipline actually requires a whole lot of effort. Believe me, sometimes it’s just easier to let the kids misbehave and not do anything about it. After a long day, I just wish to sit, curl up in the chair with a good book to read – I don’t really want to do any ‘Mommying’. I wish someone would ‘mommy’ me too.
“…As long as I know that I am striving towards being the best Mom that I can be, then I am just fine…”
“I am a MAP”. My son looked at me curiously. I said, “Yes, I am a MAP. I am a Mom Achieving Purpose”. Then, he smiled like “Oh, Mummy”. Finally, we have moved to our new site and I am so excited to be doing this today. So, you are also a MAP. As a map and as a MAP, what essential traits should you have? What is a map and what does a map […]

When you’re not at work, the only form of relaxation you get is getting the kids to bed and sorting through your children’s bickering! If this is how you feel, you are definitely not alone. A lot of women who have children feel like they are so busy, […]
“…you who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth…” – Psalm 65:5b It’s another week! A Beautiful one that the Lord has made. Anytime I have the privilege of opening my eyes, I get so excited because of all the possibilities that I can see. So what about you? Are you excited about the new week? Or are you apprehensive about it? Are you looking at your own capabilities and telling yourself, […]
I interact a lot with young people, especially in church on a regular basis. I also have school aged children that are mine. I have found it very interesting when I hear parents complain about how the church is not influencing their children enough to do the right things. I saw an infograph on social media a few days ago and it triggered in me the need to finish this post [I had started writing […]
“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.” – Isaiah 54:2-3 Thank You Lord for Your word to me today. Thank You for being mindful of me. I am so grateful because I am convinced more than ever […]
My son was trying to memorize a poem just yesterday after school. The poem intrigued me because of the way it was written. Every line has “as….as…” For instance, the first line was: “As slow as a Start” or something like that. He then asked, why does it say “as slow as a start”? I could only explain giving the example of starting to drive a car. I said, “When you want to move a […]
This post was first written for and published by ‘She Leads Africa’. Just thought I should share here too. Don’t you just wish you had been taught about financial responsibility when you were much younger? A number of us only began to take lessons in handling our finances in adulthood. In our rapidly changing world, it has never become more imperative to teach our children the need for handling money well. In fact, it’s such an […]
“You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it.” – Psalm 65:9 Welcome to a Brand New Week! I love new things. They have a way of instilling hope in my heart. I may understand why some may not be bothered about the new week, after all it’s the same old, same […]
“May our sons flourish in their youth like well-nurtured plants. May our daughters be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace.” – Psalm 144:12 And the child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the wilderness until he appeared publicly to Israel. – Luke 1:80 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. – Luke 2:40 Jesus grew in […]

The holidays are winding down – at least in my part of the world! And it is back to school and to reality for you and the children too. Did I hear a sigh of relief from a Mom? The end of summer is usually a bitter sweet time. Sweet because you no longer have to spend all your time trying to ensure the kids are comfortable and having a nice time. And bitter because […]
Thank God for the end of another work week. It’s Friday and it’s time to pray! Do you often feel like there’s more to this our present way of life? Do you sometimes feel like your life should count for more? Living the abundant life is more than driving the latest car or wearing the latest designer clothes. It’s been kingdom minded, bearing an unquenchable thirst and passion for God’s kingdom. If you are ready for […]

Look, the Lord your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as the Lord God of your fathers has spoken to you; do not fear or be discouraged.’ “Nevertheless you would not go up, but rebelled against the command of the Lord your God; “Then I said to you, ‘Do not be terrified, or afraid of them. The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, […]
I have a habit of heading into the kitchen as soon as I finish dinner, drop my plates in the sink and start to wash up. My hubby dearest cannot for the life of him understand why I do things like that. “Why don’t you rest for a while first?” he would ask. I usually respond with:”If I would still be the one to do these dishes, I’d better get them done now”. I would […]
I saw these words somewhere and it stuck to me: “Don’t wish for it, work for it” It’s another Monday and the beginning of a new week; as a matter of fact, the first Monday in a new quarter. In my Hello April post, I tried to bring words of encouragement about perseverance even when you feel like giving up. The last quarter is gone and you can only work with what you have within […]

“This Child will break your heart!” How about that for an opening line? As I was just pondering on the season of Easter, for some reason, my mind went away from Jesus for a bit, and I thought about Mary, His mom. And for some reason, my heart was heavy, just thinking about her. For a moment there, I tried to imagine if I were Mary. Right at my child’s christening, I am told that […]
Unlike Christmas, Easter usually seems to be a little ‘under celebrated’. Maybe it’s because of the time of the year, maybe it’s because of the lack of the twinkling Christmas decor, maybe it’s because it’s a time that speaks of death, burial… It’s just usually not hyped like Christmas. If you live in Nigeria like I do, you know that, we are not such ‘egg-hunting’ and ‘bunny-bearing people’. Quite a number of us seem to […]
Our #Inspired Series for today has been birthed out of the things I have experienced in the last few days. As usual, I share my thoughts and #LifeLessons with you with the hope that you will be encouraged, admonished and possibly moved to action in certain areas of your life. Today’s post will revolve around Speaking Up. In pondering on this, I have come to realize a profound truth. There are always voices around us […]
How do you handle interruptions to stay productive? Have you ever tried to get a word in and every time you tried, someone kept interrupting you? That’s what happens when you’re trying to get stuff done and a million and one things keep getting in the way. A phone call, an app notification, a friendly visit…the list is endless. I can tell you for free that nothing will get done if you don’t ensure you […]
I was just thinking about the series I wrote on Abuse a while back and especially the one on sexual abuse. And as I do sometimes, I was reading over those posts again. And I thought to myself, how are you supposed to report something if you don’t even understand what the thing looks like? In Nigeria here, I challenge you to take a survey about cases of sexual harassment, abuse or molestation. You’re likely […]
