The News no one ever wants to hear in a marriage – The News of Infidelity.
Hearing that a spouse cheated can be heart breaking and mind shattering. The first reaction of anyone will be:
“How Will I survive this?”
I often hear a lot of women say they can never stay in a marriage if the husband has been unfaithful.
Is it so easy to walk away from a Marriage, even when we hear often that, Adultery is a Biblical basis for divorce?
I can’t ever blame anyone who feels a need to walk away from a marriage where there have been issues with infidelity.
I will however like to offer some form of encouragement for this troubling period of your marriage. It’s possible to find hope and restoration after Infidelity in a marriage – if you’re willing to give it a go.
What are the Steps To Recovery?
- Establish the Facts of The Affair: As emotional as this period may be, it is still very important to state the facts of the situation.
Understandably, infidelity is an issue of broken trust and unfaithfulness, and so it may seem like the facts of the case are not even important. It is however important to know if this affair was emotional or if it involved any form of physical sexual activity. Understanding the state of affairs actually helps to know if there could be more underlying issues such as sexually transmitted diseases that could be involved.
Also, you need to know if the affair was one-off or if it is something that happened for a prolonged period of time. Is the affair still on-going or it’s something that happened in the past? How did it take place? Does it involve someone your spouse will continue to see? These are important questions that will determine the next steps to take about the situation at hand.
Another point to consider is to know if your spouse was caught cheating or he confessed his actions? This is also important as it helps to establish if the other party is sorry for his actions.
If the case is that your spouse is not sorry for his actions, then how to proceed from here will be different.
During this period, you may need to seek help from someone you can trust like a Christian Counselor, who will walk with you every step of the way.
Be Strong In God’s Love. There is strength for this Journey.
“On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased.” – Psalm 138:3
